A Sad Chapter in the History of Tando JamREPORT...RATHI NANDLAL DISTRICT BUREAU CHIEF THARPARKAR MITHIDAILY BBC PAK NEWSThe golden chapter of Tando Jam’s history, filled with light and love, has come to an end. A respected name of the city, former Minority District Councillor of Hyderabad, Maharaj Manghan Lal Goswami, is no more. He was not just an individual but the very identity of Tando Jam — a symbol of brotherhood and a living character of its history. BBC PK NEWS Report Nandlal Rathi Thar parkr

Being the uncle of Maharaj Deep Raj Goswami, we too lovingly called him Chacha Manghan. Our Rashdi family had a deep bond with Chacha Manghan and his brother, Maharaj Purshottam Lal (father of Deep Raj). My late father used to say that just as his friendship with Deepak Raj was strong, the same bond of friendship had always existed with their elders as well. He often recalled how Maharaj Raghunath Goswami’s flour mill was once very famous. According to him, when he was a student at One School in Tando Jam, he would come on horseback from our village and tie the horses at the well-known flour mill.Later, when I, along with Rais Farman Ali Khattian and Virender Kumar, returned from university, we would often sit in the old-style rooms of the mill on antique chairs, holding long gatherings and discussions. Whenever Chacha Purshottam or Chacha Manghan Lal arrived, we would stand up out of respect and offer them our seats. They always spoke to us with great affection, sharing stories of the past. Newspapers were also read there regularly. Today, their departure fills us with deep sorrow. This family, which has long been settled in Tando Jam, is truly unique. Be it the days of Partition or other difficult times, the Goswami family always illuminated the soil of Tando Jam with their presence. At the time of Partition, Maharaj Raghunath Goswami was the owner of “Raj Flour Mill,” and after Partition, this was the only Hindu family that chose to remain permanently in Tando Jam.Twice, the Goswami family considered migrating to India, but Maharaj Raghunath Bharati Ji’s sons — Manghan Lal Goswami and Purshottam Raj Goswami — vowed never to leave their homeland. At that time, the Rajput, Magsi, Talpur, Samo, Suthar, and other local communities assured them:"You are safe here; this is your home. We are with you and will always stand by you."It was this trust, this love, and this bond that became the foundation of the Goswami family’s continued presence in Tando Jam — a bond that remains unbroken to this day.The late Maharaj Manghan Lal Goswami was the uncle of Maharaj Deepak Raj Goswami, Rajesh Goswami, Subhash Chander, and Dr. Naqash Goswami, and the affectionate father of Ramesh Goswami, Naresh Goswami, and Suresh Goswami. At the time of his Samadhi (funeral rites), every heart was heavy with grief, and people from various communities and backgrounds came together to pay their heartfelt tributes and express solidarity with the Goswami family. The passing of Chacha Maharaj Manghan Lal Goswami is undoubtedly an irreparable loss. Yet his memories, his services, and his dignity will forever remain alive in the golden pages of Tando Jam’s history.
